To celebrate our fifteenth birthday Vintage asked forty-eight reading groups affiliated to libraries around the UK to help select fifteen of its books that will still be read in 100 years time - fifteen 'Modern Classics'.

We made the task easier by narrowing down the list to just 100 books from over 1000 novels in print in Vintage. Every one of the 100 books listed below were strong candidates - cutting the list down to fifteen was an heroic task.
