Random House Children’s Publishers to publish new fiction on Jonathan Cape Children’s Books imprint

RHCP is delighted to announce the revival of the fiction strand within its Jonathan Cape Children’s Books imprint. The list will be led by Annie Eaton, Fiction Publisher at RHCP. BBC Books donate to Comic Relief

BBC Books have donated £170,000 to Comic Relief this year from sales of The Great Comic Relief Bake Off booklet published in January in association with Love Productions. Women's Prize for Fiction longlist features 7 RH titles

The Women's Prize for Fiction - formerley known as the Orange Prize

The Women's Prize for Fiction (previously the Orange Prize) has been announced with seven Random House Group titles featured.For one year only the award will be called the Women's Prize for Fiction, funded by several companies and individuals including Cherie Blair, Martha Lane Fox and Joanna Trollope.This year 140 writers entered and 20 were longlisted by a panel chaired by actor Miranda Richardson which includes BBC journalist Razia Iqbal, writer Rachel Johnson and novelist JoJo Moyes. BAFTA to honour Delia Smith CBE

The British Academy of Film and Television (BAFTA) have announced that cook, author and broadcaster Delia Smith CBE will be presented with a BAFTA Special Award during a tribute event on 30 April at BAFTA's headquarters in London. The Award is in honour of Delia's outstanding contribution to television cookery and services to broadcasting. 'A BAFTA Tribute: Delia Smith' will celebrate her body of work over the last 40 years. Delia said "I'm very proud to receive this honour from BAFTA as I've been a passionate movie buff ever since I was a small child, and television broadcasting has been a huge part of my life..."  Delia Smith has sold over 21 million books worldwide.

Mike Skinner wins NME Best Book Award 2013

At the annual NME Awards on Wednesday 27th February, amidst wins for Florence and the Machine, The Maccabees and The Rolling Stones, Mike Skinner's memoir The Story of the Streets scooped the NME Best Book Award 2013 and the coveted middle finger trophy! Emma Kennedy in 25 Hour Show for Comic Relief

Ebury author, Emma Kennedy, will be participating in the 25 Hour Show for Comic Relief which kicks off at 11am on Thursday 7th March. She'll be in a tent on stage at London's Pleasance Theatre for the entire 25 hours (allegedly peeing in a bucket which, if you've read The Tent, The Bucket and Me, will be pretty hilarious). The show, which sold out in 4 minutes, will be hosted by marathon show veteran and comedian Mark Watson and live-streamed via the Red Nose website. Click here to add to Emma's fundraising.

Not only did Random House Children's Publishers have two shortlisted titles in the 'Books for Younger Children' category at the Red House finals, which were hosted at the Imagine Festival on Saturday 23rd February, but one of our nominations won the overall award for 2013.Spooky, Spooky House by Andrew Weale and Lee Wildish came out on top against some seriously stiff competition, including fiction titles like David Walliams' Gangsta Granny.After the ceremony, the fantastic author-illustrator duo Andrew and Lee were interviewed by young reviewers from the Guardian Children's Books site.
