Transworld Ireland launch new imprint, Doubleday Ireland
Doubleday Ireland
Transworld Ireland are excited to announce the launch of a new imprint, Doubleday Ireland.
Doubleday Ireland will aim to discover Ireland's newest generation of talented literary authors and to publish them successfully both at home and abroad.
The first novel to be published under this new imprint will be Donal Ryan's The Spinning Heart, an original, poignant and timely debut and one of the first literary novels to deal with the catastrophic social and human effects of Ireland's financial collapse. The Spinning Heart will be co-published with The Lilliput Press in Ireland in October 2012, followed by UK publication in January 2013. Donal Ryan's second novel will be published in autumn 2013.
The list will also include two novels by Alison Jameson, the first of which, Little Beauty, will be published in April next year. Set in 1970s rural Ireland, Little Beauty is a lyrical, atmospheric novel, which tells the story of a woman who is forced to give up her child.
Eoin McHugh, Publisher at Transworld Ireland, says 'Doubleday is one of the most famous names in publishing, with a great literary heritage. We are delighted to build on that heritage with the launch of Doubleday Ireland and particularly to be starting the list with two such accomplished and original writers as Donal and Alison.'
Transworld Ireland was launched in May 2008 with the aim of publishing across a broad range of fiction and non-fiction. Having published successfully in the areas of sport, popular fiction and autobiography, Doubleday Ireland is a natural expansion of our publishing programme.
