Five Random House Group titles longlisted for Orange Prize 2012
Longlisted titles from Vintage and Cornerstone
Between them Vintage and Cornerstone have five books on the Orange Prize 2012 longlist:
- The Forgotten Waltz by Anne Enright (Jonathan Cape)
- The Blue Book by A.L. Kennedy (Jonathan Cape)
- The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern (Harvill Secker)
- Tides of War by Stella Tillyard (Chatto & Windus)
- The Submission by Amy Waldman (William Heinemann)
The Orange Prize for Fiction, the UK's only annual book award for fiction written by a woman, is now in its seventeenth year. The Prize celebrates excellence, originality and accessibility in women's writing throughout the world. The announcement coincides with International Women's Day 2012.
The judges for the 2012 Orange Prize for Fiction are Joanna Trollope, Lisa Appignanesi, Victoria Derbyshire, Natalie Haynes and Natasha Kaplinsky.
"I am very proud of this year's Orange longlist," commented Joanna Trollope, Chair of Judges. "It not only demonstrates the judges' eye for quality, but is also evidence of the breadth of subject matter, and individuality of voice, in women's writing today.".
The shortlist will be announced on 17 April 2012, with the winner announced at an awards ceremony to be held in The Ballroom at the Royal Festival Hall on 30 May 2012.
