The Random House Group Leads the Way in 2011 Costa Awards Nominations
The Random House Group has received five nominations in the 2011 Costa Awards - including four for Jonathan Cape.
Man Booker winner Julian Barnes could be up for an unprecedented double after receiving a nomination for the best novel for The Sense of an Ending. He is up against fellow Jonathan Cape author John Burnside's A Summer of Drowning.
If Barnes was to win and to take home the overall Costa Book of the Year prize, he would be the first author to win both it and the Man Booker for the same book.
Julia Blackburn is shortlisted in the 2011 Costa Biography Award for Thin Paths: Journeys In and Around an Italian Mountain Village (Jonathan Cape), Kevin Barry is shortlisted for the 2011 Costa First Novel Award for City of Bohane (Jonathan Cape) and Lissa Evans' Small Change for Stuart (Doubleday) is shortlisted for the 2011 Costa Children's Book Award.
This year's Costa Awards received 568 entries. Winners in the five categories will each receive £5,000 when the category winners are announced on 4th January. The winning books will then compete for the Costa Book of the Year award.
The £30,000 prize will be revealed on 24th January 2012.
