Michael J. Fox is best known for his roles in the blockbuster movie Back to the Future and the hit TV series Spin City. In September 1998 he stunned the world by announcing he had Parkinson's. Fortunately, he had accepted the diagnosis and by the time the public started grieving for him he had stopped grieving for himself.

'I'm writing this book because when I told people I had Parkinson's the response overwhelmed and amazed me, both the warmth and the love that people showed me and the inspiration they seemed to draw from it giving them the courage to face some of their own situations. I was at quite a loss as to how to explain that. I saw a developement from a person who was very driven and very ambitious and very consumed by outside things to somebody who had to deal with very, very, very inside things and it made me a better person.'

'If you were to rush in this room right now and announce that you'd struck a deal with God, Allah, Buddha, Christ, Krishna, Bill Gates, whoever - in which the ten years since my diagnosis could be magically taken away, traded in for ten more years as the person I was before, I would, without a moments hesitation, tell you to take a hike.'

'An enthralling story, told with verve and dexterity'

'It's an extraordinary story and Fox is more than up to the job of telling it well... Not only is he an intelligent, objective writer, he's also very dry and funny... In a market flooded with 'My Struggle with X, Y and Z' memoirs, it's a cliche to call such stories courageous or inspiring, but there's nothing cliched about Fox, nor his book'.

'Well-written and insightful... a rare, unmissable memoir.'

'compelling reading...his book often has the intensity of a thriller...with the hero being chased down a steadily narrowing cul-de-sac by the crazed villain Parkinson, all the while having to pretend to onlookers that nothing is amiss.'
