A WORD FROM ABROAD Readers in our overseas markets love a good romp through history just as much as their British counterparts, as the enduring popularity of Lindsey Davis internationally proves with each new glorious Falco novel. Our colleagues at Random House Australia and Random House Canada always receive news of a new novel from Lindsey with a genuine and heart-warming level of excitement. Time after time they tell us it’s easy to present a new Falco novel to booksellers as anybody with just a little savvy recognises Lindsey has an incredibly loyal fan base in each of these major territories. In addition to this, it will come as no surprise to hear Lindsey’s books are also sold by all of the local independent bookshops throughout Rome and our Italian distributor, Messagerie Internazionale considers Lindsey to be a key part of their core stock list. In fact, Europe – Germany in particular – is an especially strong market for the Falco novels. We’ve sold very nearly 6,000 copies of Lindsey’s last paperback, See Delphi & Die on the continent to customers whose native tongue most certainly isn’t English, but who would much rather read a novel in Lindsey’s own voice, than as a local translation. All in all, with each title Lindsey plants herself more firmly in our hearts and minds as one of our most consistent and authors, central to the success of Random House overseas.
