Interviewer (giggling): Hello, hello, and there's a real treat in store today - in fact, I'm feeling rather overcome myself! Yes, we're delighted to welcome two of the newest heart-throbs on the informing scene: the Camillus brothers. First, let's get this straight - Camillus Aelianus, you're the eldest and you're Aulus, right? And Camillus Justinus, you're Quintus? - They're nodding folks - So you're fresh in town; now tell me, is this your first visit to Londinium? Aelianus, coolly: Rather a culture shock, after Rome. Justinus, diplomatically: But of course we are thrilled to be here. Interviewer: Now: a little bit of background first. And it's rather swanky; isn't your father a senator? Aelianus: We do not like to trade on our connections. Justinus: We want to be judged on our talents and what we produce. Interviewer: Commendable! So what do your parents think of your current occupation? Justinus: We're lucky; our parents have always been very supportive. Interviewer:: And you are working with Didius Falco? Aelianus: Yes, this is a new venture for all of us. Falco's business was going corporate and we felt we had contacts and experience to offer. Interviewer:: I think I heard he had a bit of a wild reputation? Justinus: Oh no. Falco is a married man these days; he's married to our sister, Helena Justina, a very respectable girl. They have an infant, a new baby - and a lovely new home. Aelianus, smoothly: We admire Falco tremendously. His past record speaks for itself and we are lucky to be working with him on our new projects. We hope to learn a great deal from the collaboration. Interviewer: And what about you, Quintus; don't you have a new bride yourself? Justinus: Claudia and I are very happy, but we believe the home should be kept separate from public fife. We have asked for our privacy to be respected. Interviewer:: That would not be due to current rumours of a rift? Justinus: Completely Unfounded. Aeilanus, sarcastically: Where do these rumours start? Interviewer: I can't imagine... So! Your new venture with Falco sounds very exciting. Will you tell us about it? Are you working under cover? Aelianus: I do that, while he leads an easy life. Justinus: He's just jealous because I have the charm so I get to chat up the women. Interviewer: Lots of women? Justinus: Oh I manage to handle it. Aeilanus: That's what he thinks! Interviewer:: Is the work dangerous? Justinus: Only when the women take offence! Aelianus: We are tough. Justinus: We are careful. Interviewer: Obviously you can't give too much away, but is it true you have just been on a mission up country? Aelianus: Noviomagus Regnensis. Guest of King Togidubnus. You understand, we have to be, discreet about why we were there. Interviewer: Being guests in the new palace, which I understand is rather luxurious, must have been wonderful. But you, Quintus, have experience of real barbarian country. Weren't you once with Falco in deep Free Germany? Justinus: Yes. Interviewer: Which you're still reticent about! There was another rumour then, about a rather intense relationship with a renowned beauty in the forest? Justinus: No comment. Interviewer: Right! And Aulus, any exotic foreign travel for you? Aelianus: I did a tour in Spain - government service. Interviewer: Better not talk about that then - and don't worry, either of you. It was agreed this interview would not discuss your troubled relationship over Claudia Rufina. Aclianus: If I could make a statement we had a past disgreement. I was rather upset when Claudia broke off her engagement to me, but she went with her heart and I am happy she chose my brother. Justinus: I just want to say, we have put all that behind us now and are all getting on with our lives. Interviewer: So the feud between you two is patched up? Aelianus, under his breath: I wouldn't go that far! Justinus: No comment. Interviewer: So what sort of things are you learning from Falco? Aelianus: Interviewing techniques, observation skills. Justinus: Keeping safe. In case my mother reads this, it is not generally dangerous if you know what you are doing. Our worst problem is not so much tricky situations on the streets, as finding out where the damn streets are! Aelianus: You have to avoid over-confidence. Falco would say, it is always dangerous - and really so at times when you assume that you are safe. Interviewer: I see his teaching is taking effect already! Do you make enemies? Achanus: Not if you know what you are doing. Justinus: He makes enemies wherever he goes! Aelianus:. Offending people is the nature of the game. You are investigating their most dear concerns - ambition, greed, envy ... Interviewer: Sex? Aelianus:: If you say so. Justinus: People think so. Interviewer: Sounds quite spicy! Aelianus: People want to believe that. It hardly applies to a troubled building project. Interviewer: This is the King's Palace? Rather glamourous, by all accounts. So is it in trouble? Justinus: Our job is to ensure it is not. Interviewer: And have you been successful? Both: Naturally! Interviewer:
Well, I am sure we shall be hearing a great deal more about your
exploits. Best of luck from everyone. Aulus and Quintus Camillus
- thank you for talking to us. Note: We apologise to those who were expecting an interview with Anacrites on his life as the Chief Spy. This has been cancelled for security reasons.
