Although Random House aims to meet the needs of all potential
readers through our site, we have created this minisite to further
aid visually disabled users. It comprises versions of the audiobooks
and ebooks pages together with the associated book and author
information pages. It is designed to take the user as far as the
point where online purchases can be made. From this point, users
are guided towards online booksellers, in which case we cannot
guarantee that these sites will meet the necessary standards.
There are no restrictions on the user to stay within this narrow
path, but other pages are not designed to these standards.
These pages are designed to assist synthesised speech, braille
and other accessibility software as much as possible. They contain
style sheets and images for design purposes and it may be necessary
for some readers to take additional steps. We would recommend,
for example, increasing the size of the lettering by changing
the browser settings as required. Due to the use of stylesheets,
this will require two actions:
Internet Explorer: Firstly, click on View at the top of your
browser screen, then select text size and choose largest. Secondly,
click on Tools, then select Internet Options. Click the General
tab and then the Accessibility button. Check the box alongside
'Ignore Font Sizes' (and any of the others that may be relevant).
Netscape: Firstly, click on View at the top of your browser screen,
then select text size and choose the most suitable. Secondly,
click on Edit, then select Preferences. Click on Appearance, then
Fonts, where it is possible to set your own font and size, and
override the web page font settings.
