What the critics say

An animated and funny tale written from a confused canine's perspective.
- Junior

When Smudger the dog meets Santa on Christmas Eve, he's taken on the most exciting walk of his life! Blissfully unaware of the drama unfolding around him. Smudger nearly ruins Christmas - but then saves the day! Fabulously funny, Smudger the Dog saves Christmas by Lissa Evans is sure to be a hit with the whole family.
- Prima Baby and Pregnancy

Smudger is an exuberant bundle of energy, but he's a bit confused about the lack of attention he's getting at home, so he sets out on a very special 'walk', where he finds himself at the front of Santa's sleigh. The scribbled-out inside title page of the book suggests Smudger 'ruins' Christmas - and chaos does ensue wherever he goes. But will everything right itself before Christmas morn? Well, this is a Christmas tale so we can expect a happy ending. An animated and funny tale written from a confused canine's perspective.
- Junior

Festive, funny, and a little bit naughty.
- Sunday Express

Evan's Text and Holly Surplice's delightful illustrations play on the mismatch between Smudger's not very bright dogs' - eye view and the very important mission he unknowingly takes on.
- Ham and High

This is a very funny picture book with very expressive, informative illustrations. A few sentances on each page make it perfect for beginner readers with plenty to discuss.
