What the critics say

Big dystopian acquisition set in an ageing, post-war world where youth is coveted at a near impossible price. The author's screenwriting day job is evident in the high-concept, high-octane plot
- The Bookseller

The concept is compulsively gruesome . . . Price develops her plot and characters with tight, punchy writing and a sure, confident touch. There must be a movie in this - a Cocoon for the computer generation
- Daily Mail

The only thing better than a terrific concept is one that is as well executed as Starters. Readers who have been waiting for a worthy successor to Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games will find it here. Dystopian sci-fi at its best, Starters is a terrific series kickoff with a didn't-see-that-coming conclusion that will leave readers on the edges of their seats . . .
- Los Angeles Times

This bleak dystopian novel makes a compelling read . . . Grabs the reader's attention from the first page
- Booktrust
