About the book

Synopsis

Mr Magnolia has only one boot.
He has an old trumpet that goes rooty-toot -
And two lovely sisters who play on the flute -
But Mr Magnolia has only one boot.

In this wittily rhyming picture book, Mr Magnolia has a full and happy life except for one serious omission - a boot. But one day, he receives a mysterious parcel, and at last Mr Magnolia can splash in the puddles with everyone else!

About the Author

Quentin Blake has been drawing ever since he can remember and he is one of the world's best loved and most successful children's illustrator and author.

After studying English at Cambridge University and life-classes at Chelsea Art School, he became a teacher and for many years taught at the Royal College of Art where he was head of the Illustration Department. Quentin was made an OBE in 1988 and, in the words of the Guardian, was 'already a national institution' when he was appointed the first Children's Laureate in 1999.
