Synopsis

The London through a lens postcard book brings together the best of Time Out's London through a lens series. Based on the popular slot in the weekly Time Out magazine, the postcards are a collection of beautiful, shocking, intriguing and amusing photos of London from the birth of photography to now.

Taken from the vast archives of Getty Images, the photos mix the momentous and the mundane, cultural highs and sporting lows, iconic buildings and forgotten streets, famous figures and ordinary Londoners. Some are by acclaimed photographers, some by anonymous snappers but the result is a rich visual insight into London as Londoners know it.
