| A Plate of Soil with Engine Oil
SERVES 6
You will need:
2lb loaf tin
mixing bowl
shallow roasting tin
deep serving dish
170g plain flour
150g soft brown sugar
50g cocoa powder
150ml milk
50g butter, melted
100g dark chocolate
55g soft brown sugar
400ml hot milk
1 Grease the loaf tin.
2 Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F/gas
mark 4.
3 Mix the flour and the first amount of
sugar with half the cocoa powder.
4 Beat in the milk and melted butter.
5 Break the chocolate into rough pieces and
stir into the mixture.
6 Pour into the loaf tin.
7 Sprinkle the second amount of sugar and
the other half of the cocoa powder over
the top of the mixture.
8 Pour hot milk over it, place the loaf tin in
a shallow roasting tin and bake for 1 hour
15 minutes. It is ready when the top feels
crusty.
9 Carefully turn the whole thing out into a
deep serving dish and eat it with cream
while still hot.
N.B.You can replace the dark chocolate with
white chocolate if you prefer, or do a mixture
of the two.
