Since the publication of Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress (published in over 35 countries), film maker and novelist Dai Sijie has become internationally famous. His film of the book was chosen to open the Cannes Film Festival in 2002. Mr Muo's Travelling Couch became a bestseller in its first French edition.
