Preface was established in 2007 to publish commercial fiction and non-fiction.  Preface’s fiction list includes Sunday Times bestseller Ben Kane, historical novelist James Aitcheson, thriller writer Patrick Woodhead and Donna Douglas author of the second biggest Cornerstone debut of 2012, The Nightingale Girls. In non-fiction, the list includes big history (Peter Caddick-Adams, Monte Cassino and his up-coming Ardennes; Michael Williams’, Steaming to Victory, Allan Williams’, Operation Crossbow), ‘Middle England’ (Hugh Thomson’s The Green Roads into the Trees), popular culture (Dylan Jones When Ziggy Played Guitar and The Eighties: One Day, One Decade), biography (Diane Atkinson, The Criminal Conversation of Mrs Norton and William Cook’s biography of Peter Cook and Dudley Moore, One Leg Too Few), stories of people and place (Tessa Hainsworth, Seagulls in the Attic), music  (we are long time publisher’s of U2), humour (Jem Roberts’ The True History of the Blackadder, which had contributions from all the main characters from Atkinson and Curtis, to Elton and Lloyd; Forty years of I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue and the tie-in book to Radio 4s  The Unbelievable Truth with David Mitchell). In just two years we have created one of the most vibrant cookery book lists in the UK with the bestselling Hawksmoor at Home by Huw Gott and Will Beckett, J. Sheekey Fish by Allan Jenkins, Vegetronic from Michelin-starred chef, Alexis Gauthier, Comptoir Libanais by bestselling cookery writer Dan Lepard and restaurant owner Tony Kitous and, for this autumn, Michael Caines’ At Home.
