Q. What should be included in my permissions request?  

A. Please include the author and title of the book you wish to quote from and the imprint (Jonathan Cape, Chatto & Windus, Martin Secker & Warburg, Vintage, Pimlico, William Heinemann, Hutchinson, Arrow, Ebury, Bodley Head, Red Fox etc).

We also need to know the title and publisher of your book (or the nature of your proposed use), the proposed date of publication, the price of your book and print run. Please let us know for which territories you require permission (UK, Commonwealth, Europe, world, etc) and for which language(s). Include any other information you feel may be helpful in evaluating your request.

Q. How long will the permissions process take?  
A. We endeavour to respond as quickly as possible but the length of time will vary depending on the complexity of the request and the ease with which we are able to trace records. In order to meet your deadline please submit your request as early as possible.  
   
Q. Will a fee be charged?  
A. Each case will be evaluated on an individual basis.
